I don't see any evidence that is was worked or utilized by man. Looks to be a natural stone.

I agree with grim. Looks completely natural.

What's a loaf stone???? Just curious

Sorry. I agree with others, Looks natural.

Thanks everyone for all your help with this rock. I’ll throw it back in the field! I struggle with knowing if a rock has been “worked” or not when it is smooth! I look for pecking and shaping but Honestly in a rock of this color I can’t see a thing.... I appreciate your help so much and hope to get better at this one day.

Where are you located ??? that way ppl might give you some pointers where to look. Good luck.

I’m in Ohio- located around the Mansfield area (N central) . There are lines on this rock but must just be from natural occurrences over time I’m guessing. I also have a LOT of flint chunks I’ve picked up over time. Do people use them for knapping or do they use a special type of flint for that? I don’t know what to do with all this flint??? My family is ready to disown me! Haha! Thanks again!

Keep at it! It’s just a matter of time until you find something very cool. Also, if you haven’t already, I’d suggest looking and learning from the pictures posted here especially, the ones posted from the area that you live in. Good luck and be safe.
