I have been holding on to this find with hopes that the right idea would enter my head as to what exactly this could be. unkown 8.webpunkown 7.webpunkown 6.webpunkown 5.webpunkown 4.webp

I've consulted a family member who works at an antique shop, but still not sure. It was found on my property in Fredericksburg near civil war bullet finds (approx. 15 yards away). It was buried roughly 12 inches down. Appears to be constructed of iron. The area was also farmland for a considerable period of time (19th-mid 20th century)

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

It is part of the wrought-iron "hardware" on a Singletree or Doubletree, which is part of the "tree" shaft that the horse gets harnessed to for pulling a wagon. See the images below. Your find can date from the early-1800s all the way up to 2020, because they are still being made with the same shape as in the 1800s.

That makes sense. I did not know they were still in use today. Very interesting. Thank you!
