Because of the increasing amount of hunters (lower detector prices), our local parks have been depleted of silver. You can hunt all day just to find one merc. This is all I found out this past weekend.
At least you are out there finding goodies. Keep searching and go low and slow. Listen for the faint iffy signals and you might be surprised what comes out of well hunted ground. Lots of people go fast and get the easy targets, but it takes patients and time to get the rest. I have detected behind people who thought they got it all and come up with some real winners. So stay safe and keep swingin. Treasure awaits you.
With all the things going on this year, I’ve changed my hunting to the deep woods of my park systems. All of these parks were at one time in private hands, until being purchased or donated to the park system for protection from development. Ive been hunting in all metal mode, and finding old farming tools, horseshoes, bullets, logging tools and just a plethora of ferrous targets that my Equinox discriminates out so well. I still hear the nonferrous targets, but now i get to see and feel the history of how this country was built. I still like finding silver, but I’m loving relic hunting as well.
Have you considered asking folks for permission to hunt on their property? Parks are definitely hit a lot, but around older homes there's still a lot to find. You have to get used to rejection, but most hunters either don't try or give up quickly, so it's the best source of untapped land to search once you find a permission, IMHO.
Good your getting out I like to put all my clad in huge mason jars its fun to watch them get fuller and fuller makes clad a little more fun to find stay safe out there Tommy
I dug a 1 gallon jug full of clad last year and donated it to my metal detecting club. I sorted it and it totaled just shy of $90. So far this year, I have the same jug about half full.

The more I hit a park and dig it all the deeper you'll start to go. I've never gone anywhere thinking I'll be skunked. You nnever know what was lost and what will be found. Plus the best thing about detecting is the exercise and being out door
