Just recieved this Scam-Spam...be careful and do not open or acknowledge...

Like I'm dumb enough to provide my banking info...read on...

Dear XXXXXXXXX,

We wanted to let you know that you're just $870.44 USD away from hitting your initial PayPal sending limit of $10,000.00 USD. This is the maximum amount of money you can send or use for purchases before you need to become Verified.
Why do I need to verify my account?
We place initial limits on all accounts to increase security and help prevent fraud. Once you link and confirm a bank account or get approved for PayPal credit, your account will be Verified and you'll be able to make as many payments as you like with PayPal.

[TD="bgcolor: #e8f1fa"]How do I get Verified and remove my sending limit?

  • Log in to your PayPal account at www.paypal.com and click Get Verified at the top of the page.
  • Follow the instructions to link your bank account to your PayPal account. We'll deposit 2 small amounts in your bank account to confirm that it's yours.
  • Check your bank statement in 2-3 days and note the 2 amounts. Then log back in to your PayPal account and enter these amounts.

A little over 6yrs ago,the exact amount was hacked from my WELLSFARGO Bank account. Dollar for dollar, cent for cent.$870.44. They traced it to Baveria.Officials could never figger out how they did it?I was covered and I was rembersed the full amount.Back then the Chec,s/Chinese/Russians/Bulgera/Baveria all where hot & heavy in
getting electronics. There was one that by use of lanquage, I think was female, sure a busy girl!

Although that does seem suspicious, I would contact PayPal and find out for sure. Unless of course you have not sent that much money and know for a fact it's malicious.

The reason I say to contact them is because there's been a lot of changes with PayPal over the past few years. They can hold your funds, cancel transactions, reimburse customers their money out of your account, etc. and the list goes on.

Forward any and all of those emails to spoof@paypal.com and you will get a confirmation email back. They actually DO look into these. There were so many being sent out about 10 years ago that I'd receive one every other day.

Always remember the "S"
in the PayPal address. If it doesn't read "https" then it's not secure and it's not PayPal.

Thanks for the Info I had A coworker Asking Me About this Today!!! Told her to be Very Careful!!!

It is a fact that PayPal will shut down your account at $ 10,000 if it is not a verified
Account.
Log into your account the way you always would, Do Not use the link in the e-mail and check to see that your account is Verified. Also you can check for any messages from paypal.
Stay Safe, Be Careful

Although this could be a scam. That is exactly the email you get (with different $ amounts) as you reach your initial $10,000 limit (it counts sending and recieving).

I get it every time I use Paypal...comes in seconds after the transaction confirmation, so I know it's legit.

But, as already said....if you get a Verified account, make sure you do it through logging into Paypal as you always would do....don't follow a link.

Yep, all anyone has to remember is never log in through a link.

FYI: PayPal does require you to verify your account and they DO put 2 small deposits (pennies) into your account. You DO have to verify your bank account once you associate it to PayPal.

It's not a scam. It's a heads up from PayPal. My girl just had to verify her new PayPal account and I had to verify mine a few years ago.

Just make sure you go to paypal and don't click a link to get there.

there is no connection with my bank account and Paypal...and this is not a legit method of Paypal business practice...purely a scam waiting for someone to provide a link...

Yeah...What we are telling you is Paypal is WANTING you to link a bank account or get their credit card. You can Google the "$10,000 Paypal spending limit" and see what we are talking about. Or...you can spend or recieve another $870.44, and when your Paypal account is froze...then you can do it.

That doesn't mean that scammers aren't taking advantage of this requirement and sending out fake emails....That's why we are saying to log into Paypal and look at your messages, or account status or whatever to confirm it....

Although it might not be a fair practice (If we were good for the first $10,000...we should be good for the next $10,000), it is a legit practice of theirs.
