Went out with 2 of my detecting club friends to more downtown Phoenix lots. Was a more productive day than the previous day, especially for them.
We first hit a sidewalk strip that was very productive. Between the 3 of us about 15 wheat pennies, a very worn Barber dime and assorted stuff. My take here and at another lot was
3 Wheats - 1917 s, 1944, 1958 D
1975 Canadian penny
1 lock, very corroded
1 lipstick tube,, 'Distrib. Pitkin Inc. Newark, NY'
2 marbles
Various buttons.
My favorite find was this Locomotive button. When I first dug it, I was greeted with a grunt of disapproval by one of my detecting buddies....'aw, just an old crummy button' he said as he watched me dig it. It was very corroded and dirty and I almost tossed it thinking it was just a generic corroded button. But I decided to keep it and tumble it. I"m glad I did as I was rewarded with this locomotive button. I wonder if anyone can date it.
