Finally made it back to the river this weekend. My brother has been hunting it when ever he gets free time and once again most everything you see is what he has been finding including the 2 V nickels 188? and the 1890. I managed to find my share of fishing weights, and bullets once again. Already I can't wait to get back out there and hunt some more.

Kevin found this anchor he needs to chime in and give details....I am just posting the pic.

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2

Very nice relics TX.
What is that piece with the design in the 2nd to last photo?
Thanks,
MM

Miner, that is a bit of mystery right now, the shape is like a bottle neck and that is what I would guess but its not glass its metal. Maybe someone can ID it for us.

prety avatar. . . . .

Looks like my dog. Our dogs are sisters. LOL

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2

nice fins

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2

I love these kinds of finds. Very nice.

Old bottles are one of my favorites. Not long ago I found a ca. 1890 opium bottle.

Ed, does that make us DOG--IN---LAWS????
I got the vicious one though, no sooner do you pick her up and she starts to snarl and growl.

To clue everyone else in this is my new puppy her name is Lefty, I have another one that is a year and half old that is just a little lighter color and his name is Pancho....Get it? Pancho and Lefty, I hope y'all do because not too many people here get it(and I live on the border of Mexico) then when I say you know the Willie Nelson song everyone still gives me the look and don't know what I'm talking about.

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2

Hey TX,did I just see you today on FOX news at the 'Anti-Fence Rally' in McAllen? Nice finds.I lived in Uvalde for awhile and fished Choke Canyon, but I saw many places on the Nueces that were ripe for treasure hunting.I was not into it at the time, wish I had been.Goodluck on the river and keep posting.

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2

It looks to my you are doing great on the River. You’re finding bullets and sinkers I would keep looking because you're not far from the Gold zone when you finding stuff like that.

Thanks for sharing.

nope didn't see me there, I'm not into this political BS,(I would rather spend my free time metal detecting) but I don't think a wall will keep illegals out but just cost us more, I think they should just import lots of gators and throw them in the Rio Grande, it would be more effective and would cost us less.

Thanks everyone for the comments yeah the old bottles are really cool they sure help to date a site. The small clear bottle is a macormicks bottle.

Nice finds TX,

I know the feeling. You just can't wait to get back out there. I've been out but only for about 2 hrs or so in the last 2 weeks. The weather has just been to ugly in P.a for hunting.

Good luck in the future there.

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2

Tx, that metal 'bottle neck' reminds me of the brass handles on the ends of fireplace tools.

Just a shot in the dark, but is one end threaded or holed?

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2

the end is holed not threaded, what would they have put in a bottle like this?

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2

can you take some other pics of it? might be part of a bud vase? what kind of metal is made out of? it is very interesting

y'all got a great site there and lefty is cute would make a good truck dog

Re: Nueces River Finds***Part 2
