Numbers stamped inside gold ring.

It could mean almost anything, but without seeing a clear pic it's hard to tell. My guess would be that the 918 part is a gold purity (close to 22K) and the first 9 is really a makers mark, but again, need pics.
 

Well .916 is 22K So I'm just a bit unclear as to the first 9 in your sequence .
 

Nice youtube videos.....I must watch more of them. As for my ring, I can't really take a close-up picture but the stamp is very clear, there are no decimals or any other markings...just the number 9918 and it looks exactly like I typed it.

I'm at a loss then. Never come across something like that before.
 

If that is the only mark, it probably indicates purity (gold percent by weight) - possibly foreign origin. It could also be a manufacturer's design number, if it is not a plain band.
 

Could mean Jan 8th 1999? Just a thought. Is this something you dug?
