Plucked this little gem from about 10” down at my drained lake. It’s made by Bastion bro’s. Rochester NY and guessing the ‘09 stands for 1909, my question is; what does NWS signify ?
National weather service?
Nothing with sugar?
Nice wingnut society?
Not wicked smahhht?
I dunno, but it’s probably school related, it’s a thinker🤔 image.webpimage.webp

If it's the "Naked Women Society", I'd get that lake refilled right away! :laughing7:

Interesting find. If the manufacturer still exist, you may be able to find out who it was made for.

The company still exists but as their website cites:
As a courtesy to our distributors, our personal contact information is not provided.
Yes, "'09" represents 1909.
Don.....

Maybe "National Woman Suffrage"? Although most references I find are for NWSA (Association) or NAWSA (American).

In 1909 the various suffrage organisations came together to form the Women's Suffrage Party. The convention was in NYC.

:dontknow:

Joe, that is one nice pin:occasion14: If the company doesn't have the info, try looking for it on collector's websites or catalogs.

That’s what my wife said. I told her to be quiet and go back in the kitchen, she hit me really really hard )x

Hmm, 1909 is when the National Weather Service began using weather balloons... if you squint really hard it almost looks like it’s portraying one.
But realistically it’s more likely a school, like you said, with a graduation date.

Class pins must've been all the rage back then. Here is one on eBay with a similar shape for "BBC". Also see the ad from 1907.

The NWS is still a stumper. Is/was there a school in the area with those initials? What about neighboring counties?
