NY Pottery?

Wondered if anyone from New York could tell me if this is a piece of pottery. I've never picked any up before and have only seen pictures and read about the description of. This is from the bank of a river in Broome county. I've found a few broken points a bunch of flakes and this. Thanks for looking.

Not pottery. Its just a type of naturally occuring matrix.

I'm not sure...a lot of the pottery here (southern NY/Pennsylvania border) is orangish on one side and blackened on the other....the orange or brown side is either smooth or sometimes you find an imprint made by rope...

It doesn't look like pottery and it is awful thick too. Blown up looks like a kind of sediment.

I'd say sedimentary strata.

Looks like a pottery fragment to me. Pretty thick and crude for any number of possible reasons. Then again, maybe not.
