Obsidian in TN.?

I found what I believe to be a uniface flake knife. Thats what I think it is,,,also I think it is obsidian. It sounds like glass when its with the other cherts. I found some other peices but very few and only in 1 area. I remember obsidian (from Oregon) as being super black and shiny, and from volcanos that we dont have here. Is this a normal find in TN.? Googles not being a friend today.

Looks like Pitkin Chert to me. Most good knappable material has a glass sound to it.

Does'nt look like obsidian to me. Not familiar with material from your area but it does look like some high quality flint or chert. 99.9% sure it's not obsidian.

Thanx for the replies,,,I didnt think it was but the sound was just so diff. Out of all the debitage that I have (see below),,nothing else had made that sound. Thank you for the info on Pitkin chert,,I appreciate it.

Please don't take my word for it because I am just starting to learn some of this stuff. Maybe I should have explained a little better.
We get a lot of Pitkin Chert artifacts in our area and it looks exactly like that. When you knap it it gives off an oily smell to it.
I was told that most good knappable materials sound like glass when you hit it and this is the way to check for knappable rocks in creek beds.
