Super neat artifacts. Does anyone know anything about the stone donut?? Please weigh in if you do.
Chuck

The usual explanation is that they are digging stick weights, intended to be used with the pointed stick type cultivator to add weight. It's for sure that pierced stones were used that way in just about every place on Earth where digging sticks were used. It's just kind of a natural discovery that they all made. This one seem awfully finely made for that. Some are taken to be pendants, and I'd be more inclined to that for one so nicely made and showing so little wear. They've also been listed as fishing net weights. I personally think it's hard to be sure about an individual piece's use, unless you find it in a context that helps or the design makes the use obvious.

Nice point mick. If you had found it in the mid-west, I would say it's a "nebo hill" but I have never seen one that long.
