Well, the best part about this weekend was Bob's party, hands down. Seeing everyone in person and getting to meet some new people was just awesome. The pizza was great, the host was gracious, and our local detector dealer Ron Shore donated some great items for the raffle. I can't wait to get into the field with some of the new faces I met in person. Thanks Bob!

Here are my finds from this weekend. The '48 Washigton and '27 merc are from Saturday's hunt (also got four wheaties), and the '16-S merc, Neil's 43-P war nickel (lol), and 1888 V-nick are from today (also got one wheatie). It was good to see some familiar faces out there too.

Gonna keep this short, as I've got some errands to run. Just thought I'd give you guys the view.

Have a great week all,

Joe

Great finds Joe! Some nice oldies there. With some of you recent hunts, I bet you have forgotten all about that day a few weeks ago where you hunted all day and found one Indian. How things have changed......except you are still king of the war nickels!

If you look at that 1943 coin it does resemble Neil..... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nice pile of silver Joe! So did you give the new coil another try-out today?

Sweet nickel too BTW ;D

Great Finds Twistted............Good to see you are still getting the old Nickles..........Congrats....

Wow! Joe, you're coin-killing-kung fu is working! Upgrade that black belt to COIL FU Master!

Wow! You can't get much closer to scoring big time with a '16-d Merc than that. She's in great shape too! Congrats on your finds this weekend :)

We didn't find any great new spots today... it took everything I could do to come away with 4 wheaties, oldest being a '44-d.

I am Sir King of Warnickelia! All other five-cent coins bow down to the King and kiss the ring!

Nah, Neil don't pop his colla the way Jefferson swags it out.

John,

I was about fed up with that coil! I was actually on my way to the car to change it out for the stock, but then I hit a super trashy field and that's where the magic happened. I was able to squeak out all of the coins I found today from a big field where I have never found any old coins. It is insane trashy. I am still pulling out a ton of rusty bottlecaps and beavertails that ring up nice and high with the 6x10, that's the only downside, but these coins would not have been found with the 10-inch stock, so there is a definite tradeoff. The 6x10 doesn't seem to cut it in the cleaner fields on deeper targets, that's where I still prefer the stock.

I do in fact hold a black belt in crazy, might as well work on becoming a Coil-Fu Master!

Brett,

You'd better believe i was going bananas hoping for a D on the back of that coin! I saw the S clearly but for a brief moment wanted to see it as a D! Oh well. Yeah, regarding your day, sounds like one of my typical days, save for the last few weeks of luck I've been having.

Thanks McNickel! You and I have to keep it real in our nickel-digging endeavors. No shame in our game, eh?

Superb finds, Joe!!! WTG!!!

I'm glad you made it out today! Looks like a little of everything in your pile. That 16 S sure would have made me pause, too! I really like the George. :)

Thanks for letting me touch my your war nickel!

Awesome hunt Joe

That's really a sweet '16 there! Great silver count for that new coil!

Glad to hear its working out for you Joe. Next time you think you might be getting a bottle cap that sounds good, try moving the coil about 2-4" off center and if it drops tone or sputters a bit at first, it's probably junk. A coin should still ring smooth using the same trick. This may not work well with really deep coins or ones on edge.

GREAT WEEKEND FINDS ,WTG!!

Nice finds Joe. It was nice to meet you this weekend. Were you shaking just a little before you turned that 16 over to look for a mint mark???

Guy,

Yes! Mikewaz can attest to that. It was my first 1916 merc, and I didn't expect it to be a D, but it got me going anyway!

John,

Thanks for the great info. I also found that when I hit a target from another angle, and it didn't sound as good from the original angle, it was a rusty bottlecap. I'm going to have to get more hours in with it over the next couple months to really understand it. It's really kinda like learning a new detector.

Joe

Nice digs, Joe. It was great meeting you at Bob's party and again on Sunday's hunt. Need to hit the dirt again soon.

Great finds buddy, glad the quarters are rollin in for ya!!!
