Went for another hunt on the beach at Fenwick Island in Delaware with the wife in October. Lots of pocket change and even a Canadian nickle and penny. She managed her first sterling silver ring which we have determined is shaped like a fox and I was able to pull a 50 cal bullet from the beach which is very cool. I have to assume it was the target practice they were doing on the beach around WWII as the round has the rifling indicating it was fired. I also found the jacket from a round that had been smashed and we both found pieces of copper/brass that after some research seem to be artillery shell pieces. Overall a great hunt.

Nice finds in Fenwick

Looks like a successful hunt.

Looks like a nice hunt. I have found a lot of the WW2 ordinance pieces at Bethany Beach. It is brought in with the sand dredged up and used for beach restoration.

The 50 cal rounds and artillery were fired on a regular basis to keep the Germany submarines from surfacing and charging their batteries close to shore at night during WW2. I see 3 - 40mm and 1 - 100mm pieces of obturator or traveling band from artillery shells in your picture. The traveling band engaged the rifling in the barrel. It has a groove on one side from the rifling and hash marks on the other.

Congratulations on the WW2 finds and silver ring. Keep swingin.

It seems to me that the 3 pieces on the right may be broken parts of the same piece.

Y'all did well. Congrats on the beach hunt.
