I had a nice end of the month October Halloween treat suprise today when I got to my dump bank today to dump some nickels and cents I searched over the weekend.
Last Friday (10-28) I stopped at a couple of banks I've never been to before and I got $25.50 in halves from one bank and $30 in halves from another bank. I searched and dumped the $30 skunk halves from the 2nd bank with some other coins I had on Friday and I also searched the $5.50 loose halves from the 1st bank which were all clads also. But for some reason I just didn't get around to searching the other 2 half dollar rolls from the first bank until I got to my dump bank today. I figured they were just more clad halves and I just left the 2 rolls in my car all weekend and I figured I would just search them today when I got to my dump bank and then dump them with my nickels and cents from the weekend.
Well, when I finally got around to opening the first of the 2 half rolls earlier today I was rather surprised to see several silver edges and I even spotted a WL as well. I then checked the second roll and I saw a few more silver edges. Here's what I got from the 2 rolls:
Half dollar roll 1:
1 x '42 WL - very clear date and lettering with full rims probably grades F+/VF
1 x '59 BF
6 x '64 Kennedy's
Half dollar roll 2:
1 x no date very worn slick WL
1 x '54D BF
1 x '64 Kennedy
1 x '68D Kennedy
And these were my totals for the month of October:
3 George VI Canadian cents ('40, '44, '47)
125 wheat cents - including a '18, 2 x '19, '19D, '38D (mintage 20,010,000), a bright red AU '40 and a bright red AU '58D
6 buffalo nickels: 1 full date '36, 1 partial date '20 and 4 no date
8 silver nickels: '42P, 43P x 5, 43D, '44P
1 '38S (semi - key date) nickel
1 '50D nickel in VF+ condition
2 WL halves
2 BF halves
10 x '64 Kennedy halves
72 x '65 - '69 Kennedy halves
2 red seal $2 bills
2 red seal $5 bills
Btw, ALL my half dollar finds for the month were from loose and cwr's - probably less than $500 searched. I love those customer halves. And I only searched 1 half box in October and except for 5 NIFC's it was a skunk.
I also got $75 in "big dollar coins" today from my dump bank that are probably all clad Ike's but I haven't really searched them yet. They are still in my car.
Finding silver @ face sure makes this hobby ohhh so great.
Hope everyone has a HH November!
