Odd buttons and relics

Last evening we worked over the same site where I got my 2-center the day before. No coins but we both ended up finding some of the same buttons and miscellaneous relics. Everything at this site seems to date mid-late 1800s. The one item is from a tool company called H.Disstons and sons that has some brief info. on the net. The other side of this item had a stem with threads but not sure what it was used for. Any help or information on any of the other items would be great! I used a small light to enhance detail.

Thanks PBK for that link. Nice to know exactly what it is I found, what it was used for and knowing its age. This one I found appears to age around 1875.

Very nice finds, I love the buttons. Does the ring have any letters inside of it. I found one that had crude letters stamped in it.
