Odd error on this dime........

spoted this in my change, looks to me to be a mint error, but I don't know, you see the striations on the field below the raised devises and it appears that could have only occured in the coin chamber, any experts identify this?............fred

Cool coin. I've found a few like that, not as bad though.
I get to count the money out of the coffee machine at work ($100 every 2 weeks) and I check out every coin that I count. 8)

I hate when they make someone help me. ;)

That did happen at the mint, you got a keeper! Not worth thousands or anything, but definately something you'll want to find the right buyer for.
 

As far as the reverse.............

I did not take a pic of that, for one reason was it seemed unremarkable, without any sign of "anvil" damage from the impact of whatever indented and scratched the obverse, one possibility would be it was resting on the reverse die while being struck after the initial strike.........? ??? ?
