Odd….i was expecting a buffalo back there

A couple firsts for me….never found 2 coins stuck together. First buffalo nickel ever and second war nickel ever.

I’m assuming this was caused by fire? The buffalo has some black on the face, don’t think it’s paint, but rather heat/soot?

I don't really see any signs of fire damage. You might try soaking them in some penetrating oil for a few days and I'd bet they'll come apart
