Any chance that the mark might be an arrow through a "U"? That's the mark of Uncas Mfg. of Providence, RI, a longtime major manufacturer of plated rings.

:) Yep thats it. After looking at it a little better with my loop, I definitely see a "U" through the arrow. Also, I looked at some Renaissance portraits and it might actually be a women. :o That's scary! Thanks guys!
