Perth Highland Fencibles (1794-1802)
So I was back to the field where I dug the nice Rev War 76th officer's button and only found a few more buttons, but this was one of them! I never imagined the great condition on the 76th could be the rule and not the exception, but it is for at least one more!
To briefly explain why these are found together, in 1779 the 76th was moved to Perth, then shortly after sent to America to fight in the Revolution. In Oct., 1781 the regiment was captured in the Siege of Yorktown and then returned home at the end of the war in 1783, and disbanded at Stirling Castle (not far from Perth) in 1784. It was after that the solider, or maybe soldier and son, made their way to North America and settled the corner of the field I've been hunting.
