Hi there all,

I listed some auctions last night for some vintage clothing. This morning there was an offer of $1k BIN in my inbox for four of the items. I have no past sales history to go on and it seems this brand has never sold on EBAY, as I can find no history of past sales. I know BIN offers are usually offered to get me to sell the item early for a smaller amount than what I would realize if it went the full auction, but 1000 dollars is a lot of money, especially on a lot that I paid $5 for.

What would you do?

Thanks for your thoughts,
Kevin

Do you already have bids?

Would you mind posting some pictures/ giving us some more details on the items? And yes, if you already have bids you should not cancel them, I've been the bidder in situations like that, and It doesn't feel too good. And I'm pretty sure it's against ebay policy.

I absolutely am going to do a post here about these recent finds, I'll post it in the main forum next week.

I have no bids yet, but I'm inclined to let the action run. I keep getting offer on it. I'll trust the auction process I guess.

A grand for 4 pieces of clothing? Where do I sign up?

I assume it was from one buyer? If so, search his bidding history to see what he's buying, and get a sense of how much he knows. If it's multiple buyers, that's interesting too. If it were me I would definitely spend a solid hour or two tracking down the value of what you have. Usually the first offers are not the best offers, but sometimes they are... and if it's all from one person you definitely have a choice to make. From several people that tends to say you have quality stuff, where as one buyer he could just be a big spender. You have less risk waiting it out if you have several buyers.

By not putting pictures or a good deal of info ,you shoot your self in the foot on getting some real help on the info you need to make a decision. This group of people are amazing with there knowledge and willingness to help one a nother.

$1000 for a $5 investment...I would hit the 'Accept Offer' button in a hillbilly heartbeat.

Shipped with signature confirmation, of course.

Ok if you happen to buy any $250,000 NE Shillings let me know. Even if it costs you more than $5, say 150k, still give me a call. :)

I also believe that offer is against eBay policy! Why take a chance on all the future sales one can generate by accepting offers of that nature! Although it seems a great offer in reality I think the return of interest for that investment would be small! My 2¢

It's only against ebay policy if you complete the transaction outside of ebay. I've bought and sold like this a few times. Easy enough to add a BIN price if there hasn't been any bids.
