I just spoke with the front desk at Days Inn....they still have rooms available. The front desk clerk states do not use the internet to make reservations...it states booked for 18, 19, 20 April. as of 4 Mar 08; stated that when I made reservations on 7 Feb.

Per telecon with Noodle to post additional lodging...I did not get rates. Brenda recommended the BW@ Monroe

BEF, This is in Jackson, LA not Jackson, MS...about 45-50 miles northwest from me. I wouldn't trust myself heading to Feliciana Parish, that place is just too beautiful...many MDing sites in the area. Went on a road trip (motorcycles) to Clinton, my eyes nearly popped out just looking at the courthouse. I'm sure Shane & Angela have already detected in the surrounding areas.

Anyway, the wine is coming...it's a door prize.

dang so many prizes, i was planning on driving a small car, should i upgrade to something bigger, as i plan to clean up on the prizes.....oh the insanity of this group of people,,, just my type-lol

That is amazing, Badluck! I never knew of any accounts around the Bastrop/Mer Rouge/Oak Ridge area. My great-grandparents lived in Oak Ridge in the 1880s, had a mercantile store there, and my grandmother was raised there, the one who lived on the property (after marriage) where the hunt is going to be. Thank you sooo much for sharing that site. If you find any more info like that, please send it to us. I'll have to go see my relatives who still live at the old home place in Oak Ridge and see if we can locate some of these sites and get permission to hunt them --- for the LBH II!!

This hunt is so TEMPTING! I have had a low bid Garrett detector for years but seldom make the time to use it. Have found one silver coin in all those years and a bunch of clad at ball parks and such.

Grew up in S AR about 50 miles away and have asked my uncle if he wants to join me in the hunt.

There are several items in the Official Record regarding Delhi. There must be a main road from Monroe to Vicksburg somewhere near I-20. There was a Confederate unit that hung out in the Oak Ridge area. Must be the one in the link I provided. Probably started out proud and strong and ended the war with a wimper due to disease and other hardships we can only imagine. Any reference around to a campground?

Watch out for Mr. No Shoulders along that bayou. What is the name of it?

The main road from Monroe to Vicksburg is Hwy. 80. It runs just north of I-20, and when I was growing up, it was THE highway east to west across Louisiana from Mississippi to Texas. Goes through Tallulah, Delhi, Rayville, Start and Monroe. Runs south of Oak Ridge about 10 miles or so.

Don't understand "Mr. No Shoulders" along "that bayou." Help?
