Hello Forum,

I found this today on a short hunt. It says tri sure on it, and I've seen others on the internet that are just like it. I'm guessing it's from the 1930's. Can anyone tell me what it came off of? I'm guessing farm equipment. Thanks for looking! image.webpIMG_0324.webp

55 gallon drum plug, maybe.

Being red and having a place for a chain to hook on so you don't lose it it reminds me of some sort of fire plug cap or sprinkler system cap something like that?

....There is ALOT MORE script inside the "cap" . Does not look like a twist lock cap as the two lugs inside are not relieved to grasp anything .

EDIT..... Had not noticed the threads outside !
My vote is also for the barrel bung plug.

With the keeper eye on the bottom it's not an average bung plug. I would guess it's a type of jerry/ fire can.

Hello everyone, thanks for the input. The color red coupled with the eye on the one side (probably for a retainer chain) still have me wondering, but who knows, maybe it was a variant of a standard plug.

DC Matt, thanks. Interesting possibilities. Plug N Play, thanks also for the input. I saw many of the same pictures that you did, and the translation is.

Hello. This is a US TRI-SURE cap of the following designations:
"Use Monkey Wrench
Tri-Sure
Chicago - New York
US Patents
1901196
1982144 1982145
Foreign tatc. Issued & Pend."
Dimensions:
thread diameter of 58mm,
top diameter of about 60mm,
height of about 15mm
Year of patent and other information about the patent itself, I found on the website of the US patent office.
Information about the producer too but unfortunately I did not find anything in the topic of destination itself. Was this plug used for barrels, barrels.
Thank you in advance for your help. "J"
