The detector that will work best for the saltwater wet sand is not one you will enjoy in freshwater where you'll do most of your hunting. I suggest not getting the Whites Dual as it is a pulse and disc is very low so you will be digging lots of hair pins. Also Whites advertises the coil as being "Near-Neutral buoyant" when if fact it floats like a cork and you must hold the coil down in either fresh or saltwater. Same goes for the Beach Hunter ID 300.

The Tesoro Tiger Shark is a great water detector and is my back up to the Excal which is my choice for both fresh and saltwater. If you not going in the wet, the land version, the Sov GT is the weapon of choice.

Another good choice is the Fisher CZ-21 or 1280-X with the CZ21 being the better of the two and more costly. Always get the 10 inch coil or larger. Hope this helps.
