OK Dallas area MDer's You are invited...........UPDATED
to hunt a large area that was a full neighborhood in the 50's. I counted 82 homes and there is only one left. All but a few lots belong to the city so no problem there. Once I get all the people that are interested in going I will send everyone the details of the location. We are going on January 30th and will meet about 10AM at the site. There are about 10 people interested so far. This is a big area, short grass but there is allot of junk. 7 of us went this Saturday for only 2 hours and thats not even putting a dent in it. One merc and some wheaties were found along with and old matchbox truck (made in England). If you are intersted please respond or send a PM. Hard to believe homes once lined these streets and now nothing. This place is south of Dallas but not near any homes or businesses. Not the best part of town but we had no problems. Texan Connection, up for a trip north? Here are some photos of the place.

This is the place we had our club hunt Saturday. Place looks awesome to me. Tough to hunt, the ground is loaded but I am sure there are goodies out there! Allot of space to cover and we barely put a dent in it. Not in a great location but we were not bothered by anybody, except RWJR, a cop stopped by and asked him if everything was alright. Let me know if you can make it. I am going to send everyone the site info at the same time so I am going to wait till I get a list together.
OK, you can see the hunt site here. Hard to believe these streets were lined with houses in the 50's.

For those not familiar with this site, once there, in the upper left corner, type in Tune Ave in the address field, Dallas for the city and of course Tx, click on "find point". This will take to the hunt site. On the left, click on "all roads".
It will automaticaly take you to 2004. I recommend changing it to 2001 as the pics are clearer. Zoom in and out to where you want it. Now, on the left side, click on the "swipe" button. This will split the screen, then click on 1958 as the pics are clearer than 1956. Put your mouse at the marker located at the top center of the split and drag it left to right so you can see exactly where the houses were in relation to what it is now. You can not "PAN" in the split mode. Tune Ave is the center street of the three streets that made up this neighborhood. The hunt site is up and down all three except of course for the one remaining house that is lived in. Since none of the pics are real clear on historicaerials, I like to bring up another screen to see the same area clearly. I use maps.live

Under "get directions" type in the same info, all in box"A"
Tune Ave Dallas TX
Once there, put you cursor over the aerial tab at the top and click aerial from the drop down box, zoom in, pan to the spot you want, put your cursor back on the aerials tab and from the drop down box, click on "Birds Eye View"
Here is a link for a Topo Map you may want to print and bring along. I see two churches and one school shown as well as the houses.

Now have some fun with it. Look at the neighborhood above Bruton RD and the one below RT. 175. I believe the hog farm 2Xplorations mentioned is a little north of the upper neighborhood above bruton road but not really sure.
See if you can find when these neighborhoods were actually started. I have not been able to.
OK, hunt date is Jan 30th 10AM till your am falls off.
