well the time is finally here I have my Dirt bike up for sale an when it sells I will have the money for my water machine , no doubt no questions it WILL be a Tesoro , I have read an read an read till my eyes are bleeding on the Tiger Shark and the Sand Shark .
Here's the deal I mainly hunt the Colorado River an will be hitting lakes an other fresh water sources around here but I'd like to be able to hunt in Mexico an California on occasion , which machine is better suited for what I want to do, do I just bite the bullet an get a PI machine or what , guess I have to many questions .
What kinda head phones come on these machines ?......are they decent ?...or will I have to look into buying a good set of waterproof headphones to?

The headphones on my Tiger Shark are hard wired. I would think hunting mainly fresh water, the Tiger would be better for you. I've read a lot of people say it isn't very good in salt water, but I haven't had any problems with mine. I'm sure the Sand Shark would be deeper, but I'm still learning to stay on the hits I'm getting, deeper wouldn't help me at all in the surf at this time.
I will probably get a Sand Shark for the start of next tourist season, I should be much better at recovering targets by then.

The Tiger Shark is an excellent detector for what you want to do. The Sand Shark is a PI machine and deeper, but will sound off on a lot of bobby pins which can last a long time in fresh water before rusting away. Both these detectors have the headphones hard wired and they are very nice. The Tiger Shark has 3 controls inside which never need to be adjusted except once when you first get it. These are Volume, Sens. and Threshold Volume. I suggest never touching the Sens. adjustment as it is very hard to readjust after you mess things up by turning it up.

I've told Tesoro to color code these 3 inside controls, but you just need to look at the pic in the manual to make sure you adjust the correct one when setting the Threshold volume.

Both these detectors last a long time on a set of batteries. The Tiger is also the only one that is good at finding gold chains in the disc. mode unlike all other detectors I've played with.

thanks for the advice guys

Hey Tank :hello:

The ideal scenario would be to get both. However, if you are as tight-fisted with your money as me, you weigh the pros and cons of both the Tiger Shark and the Sand Shark and see which one would be better suited to your needs.

The Tiger Shark is a VLF detector, with discrimination. If your hunting is mainly in fresh water, this is your machine....no questions. Especially if like me your patience is limited and you don't want to spend time digging everything out there that is metal, which is what you will do with the Sand Shark!

The drawback to the Tiger Shark obviously is in salt water. Being a VLF is is cranky. It will still work in salt, but not as good as a SS.

Hope my 1 1/2 cents helped. ;D

Long live Tesoro's!
