On Friday morning I had a friend from out of town (from Florida) and also a MD'er but has never hunted the woods so I took him out to the old abandoned school site in the woods. Well I started finding targets right off the bat but he was having trouble as I said he never hunted in the woods. Well after a 3 hour hunt he managed to find a modern game token but I found all kinds of goodies. The coolest one by far is the old Pontiac token. At first I though it said "Chief of the 60's" but it is actually "sixes". All of my finds with the exception of the pistol was down 4-6 inches and the pistol was just under the surface like 2 inches on top of a big tree root. Thanks for lookin and happy hunting.

I looked up "Pontiac Chief of the Sixes" and I found this on the Barrett Jacksons cars page:
The Oakland Motor Car Company, a division of GM, introduced a companion car in 1926 - the Pontiac. It was called "Chief of the Sixes" and named after a legendary Native American warrior, leader and orator.

So cool my token is from atleast 1926, by far my oldest token!!!!

Awesome finds TF

It's cool when you find tokens...they come in all different shapes and sizes unlike a round coin with the same figures that we are use to seeing...

It's always an added bonus to a hunt when you dig one....

DAAAMN, that's a nice OLD spot you got there Kermit! Love the IH and the '09 wheatie. Is the '09 a VDB? It's in great shape.

Congrats on a really cool token too! Hope your company had a good time out there with you.

you found a lot of good stuff. congrats

I checked and its just a plain (no vdb) - the 1920 was green just like the 1919 but I cleaned all of the coins and token with hot peroxide the soaked them over night in water. In the morning I used que tips to finnish the cleaning and the token and the 1920's finish just rubbed off now they are all just super pourus.... GRRRRRRR The I just rubbed olive oil on them to bring out the color of the coins. :icon_pirat:

warm up a small amount of peroxide in a small plastic dish in your microwave until it starts to boil
then pull it out and put your item in it and wait for the bubbles to stop, about 2 minutes and it's all done

Way to go on some great finds. I'm sure there is more silver in there to be found.

Great hunt, kermit! Those are cool finds!!!

Those toy guns don't come up whole like that very often.

I found an identical Pontiac token in the woods a couple of weeks ago.

Yep, looks like a great spot for some old silver. WTG TF!
