This is one of my flea market finds from last week. I believe it's call a ambrotype photo, that was common from 1855 to 1865. Not all that positive on that? I got it for under 13 dollars. Looking in to the sale of these I'm hoping I could get maybe over fifty dollars out of it. Seems subject mater is the key to high values in these type of things?

It sure looks like an ambrotype to me, Daguerreotypes have a mirror like reflective finish. It looks like you can see through the picture in your 2nd image. If that is the case, its an ambrotype. You are right, with these antique photographs, it is all about the subject matter. It should sell well due to the fact is hand tinted, and appears to be done very well. Nice Find!

Did you sell this find? Curious to see the results when you do decide to sell it, I really like it!

Nice pic.

I still have it. I'm not sure when I'll get around to list it. I've been to busy with work lately. I'll give you a heads up when I think I'll be letting it go.
