first off i did not put the ding in this dime unfortunately it was there its to bad because it is a real beauty i usually water hunt but today we decided to try an old spot we have had our eye on for a long time after finding some clad and pennies an old pocket watch and the normal pull tabs i got a real good hit my xlt said 1 1/2 inches down i could not believe my eyes at first i thought it was a seated dime then i saw the crown wow that made my week an 1883 Hawaiian dime then about 20 feet away i dug a Spanish coin but all i can read of the date is 177? but that is fine by me what a day i cant wait to get back there and see what other goodies i can find i hope i am back with more to share

wow what a find on the dime!! got any history for us on old coinage from the islands? willy
 
i have been reading about these coins and the Hawaiian people really didn't have much of there own money so what got here they just kept passing it around so that is why that one is so warn down and the dime it has lots of history 1883 was the only year they made those then in 1900 they removed them when we became a territory don't quote me on this stuff i read this yesterday so i hope i got it right lol but they did say they were rare and highly collectable

hi you are on the big island right? i have seen lots of your water finds very nice the beaches here arent that good but i have found some nice finds thanks for looking
 
neat lookin finds... have never saw a dime like that.... and the spanish coin... on the islands?? very cool indeed! Congrats man!
