Not much monetary value but I enjoy finding these old handmade tools. I found this at an old house site in Jefferson County, TN. I'm guessing early 1900s. My only question is how would it be attached to the handle? It is solid other than the square hole. Axe.webp

Very interesting. I've dug many axe heads, but nothing like this. Hopefully another member will chime in with some info. Thanks for sharing!
 

Thanks guys. I don't think it's that old I just can't figure out how it was used. All I've found at this site is some wheat Pennys and Indian heads along with the normal house site finds.

Maybe it was bolted and dragged to break up topsoil or a similar use?
