old bell

Can anyone tell me anything about this bell? It was found in the middle of an isolated 200 year old site. I assume it is a much more recent drop, maybe from a dog. It has what I think is India? (and more?)in dot matrix on the side which is why I don't think it is that old. I think you will be able to make it out in the photos. It appears to be brass or 'bell metal' and looks hand engraved. The clapper is long gone. Thanks for any input.

Your bell was definitely made in India and it was of the style that was very popular in the 1960s throughout the late 1970s and they were sold at stores like Pier 1 Imports, Dockside, etc. If you examine it carefully, I believe that you will discover casting marks which mark the seams of the piece.
The aestetic motif is definitely Indian in nature and this type of casting, along with countless other brass castings were sold by the bushels. My mom used to have a bunch of that brass accent stuff until she realized that brass tends to corrode quickly and thereafter all of it soon became a mainstay in the garage sale venues.

Thanks for the confirmation guys, it's one of the only modern things found there which is why I had to make sure. Probably fell off a hunting dog.
