French medicine bottle, for cuts, bee stings, snake bites, found an article mentioning it from March 25th, 1861. Montyon prize were given in 3 categories: health, literature and vertue. Needless to say that Boboeuf never won the Montyon Prize, fake ad but very cool bottle and maybe rare. Congrats!

It was an antiseptic.

Here is what we know about phenol. "

[TD]Phenol is an antiseptic and disinfectant. It is active against a wide range of micro-organisms including some fungi and viruses, but is only slowly effective against spores. Phenol has been used to disinfect skin and to relieve itching. Phenol is also used as an oral analgesic or anesthetic in products such as Chloraseptic to treat pharyngitis. Additionally, phenol and its related compounds are used in surgical ingrown toenail treatment, a process termed phenolization. Research indicates that parental exposure to phenol and its related compounds are positively associated with spontaneous abortion. During the second world war, phenol injections were used as a means of execution by the Nazis. Phenol is a toxic compound whose vapours are corrosive to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract." The second part. " bobo euf" seem french to me, but cannot find anything of value onit other than the above mentions.

Hey just curious what does the bottom of the bottle look like. Thanks and Nice find!

Stef got a point, maybe pontil bottom but I would doubt it. I may be wrong, pontiled bottles were before 1850's but some might still be made this way, depending if the bottle makers had the means for molds.
