Any suggestions on cleaning an old Brass lock?

If you prefer a toned brass I would use electrolysis and maybe lightly rob the piece with a damp soft rag or 0000 steel wool or ultra fine wet sand paper to rub off some areas and leave others darker.

A lot depends on your locks present condition.

There really are many options.
