Looks pretty sweet but I can't help you with id'ing it. How was the skeeters up there?

Lowbatts,
Skeeters weren't too bad. Biting flies were a problem for a few days.
Biggest problem was that tall grass. Quite a workout to try to get that coil close to the ground. I was only picking up larger hits.
I had my own personal ghost town that had 400 people living there in 1905 and a ghost town by 1920 but the ground cover was way too deep to search. Another road trip this fall is a priority.

Great old lock, and that sounds like a very cool place to hunt!!! Good luck!!!

Hey Makton great old lock. Do you see any writing anywhere on it. There looks to be some kind of writing on the upper part of the "U" shape part. I found an old padlock myself and did some research on the net and got some info. I don't have any links for you because it was a while ago but there are sites out there. Great find! HH

Dirty John,
It looks like it was pat'd 1891. I was going to try to clean it up but it will take away so much of the character.
