I found this brass spigot in Vermont. Was told it looks like a maple syrup tap from the 1920s. Another guy said it looked like a Petcock valve off a model T fuel tank. Anyone have any ideas on identification and age?

It's a primer cup/compression relief for an old engine. It's on a 1/8" pipe thread. I have them on some of my larger engines. They started showing up in the late 1800's. Being repoed today.

My first thought was a natural gas valve from a residential house lamp. :dontknow:
But having that spring and band-aid on it, I'm now thinking Tony is correct.

The engine in my avatar is a 1904 Fairbanks Morse 4hp. It has a primer cup like that one.
