Old Brass

I found this last week at a site where civil war relics had been found.It's made of brass.Hope someone can help.Thanks & GOD bless.

Looks like the Chamber for a Lock.

A wild guess would be fuse adapter for a shell. Perhaps some CW relic hunters could chime in here.

looks like it might be a canteen spout, but usually they are made out of pewter. HH!
