Found myself a little buckle, its made out of bronze. Any idea of age on this one? Its 3,5cm long and 2,2cm wide.

The area has been used from the year 900.

Looks like a 14th century spur buckle, best guess.

Crude zoomorphic head (beast) at end with the holes as ears.

Justed checked my book, to test my memory. I got the date wrong, but it is a Spur Buckle - 1575-1650s.

The beast head some what throw me, these are normally an early date, a debased image from the saxon era.

Very nice type, there is not one in the book exactly the same, only similar. Doesn't mean its rare, just not really common.
