That clasp on the back makes it look more like a bridal rosette. How big is it ?

I would agree - Bridal Rosette or Horse Boss as we Brits call them. Early 19th century ish

I never like using the word Unique. Unique to date would be better as there maybe more out there that we either don't know about or haven't found yet. Some Ancient artefacts produced using the Lost Wax method are unique due to imperfections, however they still have similar forms.

I have found an unparrelled Saxon Hasp which the British Museum named after my Town as its the first & only one identified. However I would never say it was unique.
