Hey folks. I was wondering if anyone has information on a few finds. A pair of old buckles dug from the same sight. How old might these be and for what purpose? The iron item looks like it may be a "hammer" for an old musket rifle. Is it really? The brass-bronze thingy has a nice crusty green patina and a pair of rivets on it. Any idea what the heck it is? Sorry for jumbling these all together into one post. I am too darn busy with life to get my detecting done. Thanks in advance for any ideas. You could possibly have a hammer for a muzzle loading firearm. If it is in fact one, then there should be a square hole where the X is.

Yes, hammer to a percussion cap rifle, invented a few years before the civil war. Buckles also look to be early to mid 19th century due to the construction.

I have yet to learn how to do electrolysis for my iron finds. The hammer does have an indentation where your "X" is located causing me to believe this might actually be a rifle hammer. Thanks for the feedback.
