Seems to be a Benedict and Burnham button. The company was in Waterbury, Ct from the early 1830s to the early 1840s. So it kind of narrows it down for ya. Nice find.

Ir is a one-piece solid cast brass "flower button" manufactured for use on civilian clothing (not military).

As Charlives indicated... the McGuinn-&-Bazelon book on button backmark dating says the "Benedict & Burnham" backmark on your button dates only from the company's founding in 1834 through 1843, when the company's name was changed to the Benedict & Burnham Mfg. Co.
