War of 1812, I've gotten A 2 which stands for artillerist 2nd division , and If I remember correctly LA which is light artillery

Regiment not division! That's an awesome find man , trying to figure RL for you , pics are hard to make out!

La ok cool! When I found my first 1 I thought it was a ladies button cause the script was so fancy! I think they are pretty scarce I'll look it up in Alberts tommorow and give you the info

My wife's first question is if it's worth anything. My first answer is always "no".

It's actually a 2 regt "regiment of artillerist" 1812 button.
So it's a script RA
Tough button to dig
Good catch

It is RA not LA? Ok cool is it possible to have just an A

This one is definitely a script RA.

I remember just A 2 from what I found are they the same regiment RA / A ?

Sure is There are 1,2,3 regt of script A buttons
You guys are awesome! Was this regiment stationary at forts or did they travel?

I located mine at an old farm field , and open lot near very old church , neither where lost in battle because my area of Long Island saw no action! Although those spots could have been muster areas, I personally feel the where lost sometime after the war when people still wore there uniforms on Sundays and special occasions. Jim seems to have more info about specific Regis.
