Hi gang,

I hit the Yellow Springs house the other day again and only got some clad and this unusual button or ornament. The rim that holds the two pieces together is silverish but the body is slightly dented and dirty but afraid to clean it. Thought it was copper buy the color but I think it is just caked on dirt. Looks like a shinny scratch in side that looks metallic.

I need a bigger coil and hit the site again. It is raining now so Monday will be a good day to hit the site as the rain will have soaked in good.

Another sweet find amigo. Maybe the rain will let up @ here. What did the button read as a dime, nickle? I dig everything but was just curious. There's got to be more loot for you at that house. keep us posted.

Nice button.. "ball" or Cadet button.. also referred to as a Zouave Button because of the number of them used by Zouave Troops during the Civil War... date range is 1830s thru late 1800s. I've dug them in Civil War camps and a lot of them from 1800s housesites.. I just posted one this week that appears to be silver or pewter..

Ace, yes I will hit the site again. Trying to see if I can afford a deep coil for my M6.

These are found in most fields I do in the UK. (just to put another prospective on them)

congrats again my friend..... is there anything left of that yard LOL I can just picture it being one hole after another....... another great find....... must have been older houses there before that one or something..... congrats again!

Monkey Boy is correct it is a Zouave Button. A Zouvae force came out of Ohio during the Civil War, it was known as the 34th Regiment with success against the confederates in Va. Crusader is also correct the British used the same buttons as well. Well done
