A button very similar to yours is pictured in book I have - The Complete Button Book (Albert / Kent) - in the Sporting section.

The backmark is a bit different though. It is described as:

11. Stamped brass. Fine chased rims. Nicely gilt. Design in repousse. Panel back. Back marked J.M.L. & W.H. Scovill - Extra Rich.

I think the Scovill backmark places it around the 1830s.

The bullet (because of the reeding in the "grove") post 1865, probably .32 or .35 caliber
