Found this about 6 inches deep near an old building believed to be a Cavalry outpost. Only had a few minutes and dug the first signal I got. Plan to go back this spring and hit it hard. Any ideas on this?
I am trying to imagine if this a flattened-out version of what I see here in the Ozarks. If it were reshaped into a tin can, and placed upside down on a wooden post (hitching post, fence post, flag pole,) then it would keep the rain and ice out of the wood, somewhat preventing wood rot. May be stretching my limited imagination just a bit too far. Keep swinging that cavalry site, best of luck. Sub
If you look closely you can tell there are actually 2 pieces and they are held together by rivets. There is also a hole punched in one corner . I threw the Sharpie in for size reference
