Nice :) Just curious, how'd you know it would be near parking lot? Like does that place usually have rare coins in the vacinity? Just curious.

Anywhere that is tore up in Grand Rapids is a potential good spot!

Stupid Canadians, dropping change in wrong countries ;)

Stupids canadian for sure, they could have dropped it on the good side of the border, lol. This one still eluding me. I'm not an expert, but found some info on numicanada and here it is: if it's coinage (flip it vertically to see the head on the reverse upside down) it's worth more than if it's medal (flip the coin horizontally, you see the head looking at the left). For AG-3 grade About 30$ for the medal type and about 390$ for the coinage type. WTG and congrats!

I think they made a bazillion 1859's? I have found them and seen several others the same year. Great find congrats!!!

Hi Mike!, you'Re right. According to numicanada, they minted around 425 000 1858 coins and 9 500 000 coins from 1859.

Well. I may never know if it's 1858 or 9. It's so corroded on that exact spot.

Thought i was not allowed to put the link. Thanks Bquamb.

Congrats on the old Canadian Copper!!
Funny - I've found more Canadian Large Cents than US Large Cents
