Old church/Historical marker?

There's an old church here in Milton, WV that had alot of civil war activity around it, and one of these days I'm going to ask permission to hunt it, byt right next to the church is a historical marker describing what happened in the area and the church. Does that sign stop me from asking permission all together and just to forget about it?

I'm not worried about asking just the historical marker.
 

If the church is private property, I think permission can be given. I don't think the marker stops you, as long as the government doesn't own the land.
