That's a Connecticut copper and it looks like a nice one! :headbang: Congrats! If you can post clearer pics someone should be able to ID the variety for you. Here's some more info for you, keep up the good work!

HuntersWife,He may just find you a right purrdy ring now!!! God Bless Chris

that connecticut copper is in better shape than any i can remember seeing dug.
great looking coin. congrats to your husband!
i find that it's fairly common to walk right up to the best find of the day first thing.
most of the time it's just going to where the conditions look most promising, but
i wonder...

Thanks guys.
@ worldtalker: A girl can only hope. :tongue3:

Clearer and larger too. Big difference in value between the common and extremely rare... and you have the condition so definitely worth figuring out.

My husband looked it up. It is very common. But because of the condition it is still a really nice find.

Nice score and in great shape. Still in the igloo up here :laughing7:......cheers!

That Connecticut copper is a very nice find. 8)

Way to go HuntersWife, nice colonial copper find. Dwayne, Does my "CC" qualify as having a lot of detail too?

wow thats awesome!

I had someone tell me mine should grade VF. HuntersWife's looks as good. I saw another this week at my club meeting, a 1787 "CC" about one grade less and not as much detail but still way above average for colonial finds around my area. Coppers and large cents are not usually found with very good detail around here. Normally if I can date and ID the type of coin I am happy.
