I went last week to help my buddy do some work at an old house built in 1815. We were given some nice history of the old farm and permission to detect the property. It was hot and dry and we searched for hours with nothing to show for it. I finally got a nice signal and dug an Army coat button and a few wheats. I gave the button and wheaties to the homeowner to put in her trinket bowl to go along with a few other relics they have found around the old homestead. I got back out earlier this week to an old ball field I have hunted a bunch. We got a lot of rain and made for easy digging. I lucked up on a nice Washington, 3 Indians and a few wheats. I also drove down to another old school that I've hunted before and it was tough going. I started getting a few wheats and then a buffalo. The signals get really trashy and jumpy and I managed to get an iffy signal but it got better when I tightened up my swing. I dug a deep plug and the signal sounded great but still down a bit. I was thrilled to see the 1902 Barber quarter roll out and even more to see the O on the back. Yesterday after work I went down to hunt behind an old school I haven't tried yet. Right away I got a nice signal down deep and it was an old pocket knife. It was falling apart and I could see some design on it. When I got it cleaned up I could see it was from the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition or the World's Fair held in St.Louis, MO. I really like digging relics like that, such a cool piece of US history. I finished up with a few wheaties, a Rosie and a Merc. HH David.

Don......

Representing great advancements in technology, the Palace of Machinery contained the power plant for the Exposition built by General Electric. Covering nearly 180,000 square feet of the building, the generator provided electricity to all the lighting, pumping and power used to operate the concessions and exhibits. The building constructed at a cost of $646,533, also housed exhibits displaying the latest in tools, machinery, steam pumps and generators.
