Last night while visiting my mom, she gave me some old coins she had been saving. I did not find these with my detector but will treasure them just the same. They are 2 Indian head pennies, a 1903 and a 1905. Also there are 4 mercury dimes dated 1943, 1942, 1943, and 1917. One foreign coin that I learned is a 1898 French 50 centimes. There is also a 1842 seated liberty dime and a peace dollar that my father always carried in his wallet and is dated the year he was born 1923. The peace dollar I will treasure the most. The seated liberty will also be something special for me as my mother has had it since she was a very young girl.

I did as you suggested, I went back and checked it with my lighted magnifing glass and it is just a 1942. But I will remember and check any other 1942 if I ever run into another.

Great coins! My mom has a peace dollar she was given as a graduation present...I think it's a 1923 too! :)

Any coin that has a provenance such as that is priceless.
Hang on to them and thanks for sharing.

Nice silver and old! HH, Mike
