Could be an old barber's chair, and the headrest is for getting shaved.
 
All i know is its cast iron and heavy as.. well heavy

Very cool.

I'm sure you're right that it's a dentist's chair. Barber's chairs did sometimes have headrests, but not constructed like that. It's very similar to this "Peerless Harvard" dentist's chair from 1924, illustrated on the 'dentalmuseum.pacific.edu' website:

It looks pretty close to that one. I guess next question whats it worth? I know their is a section for that. If one of the mods would like to move it or just fire away what you guys think it might be.
