Hello All. Since everything in the area is a little "rained-out" I had time to hunt a month-old farm house permission. Hunted about an hour and a half with nothing to show for it then got a small wheat spill within a foot of each other and rescanning the last hole BAM goes the headphones!! Nice 925 with no other markings. It's really thick for as small a ring as it is. The pic makes the stone look yellow with the flash but it looks more greenish colored in natural light. Any guess on age or stone is welcome. Happy Hunting!!!:occasion14:

Nice find. Definitely looks older. I wonder when they started to stamp the 925? Probably give you a better date range.

I would be *extremely* happy to find that ring!! Good job.

Thanks PowerDubs. It looked like a pull tab ring at first when coming to the surface. I didn't get exited until I saw it on edge..lol

Nice ring, Congrats on the save

Nice!!! Maybe that's a peridot? August's birthstone?

That's a nice chunky ring right there

Beautiful ring for sure.

In the US, everything before 1906 (as a general rule) was marked "sterling".

I've seen discussions on other sites that recognize US jewelry marked "sterling" as late as 1960.............

Thanks for the replies everyone. It resembles Peridot...It resembles Citrine...just looks somewhere in the middle. Probably just the place where the stone came from...??
It is chunky for it's small size. :hello:

Excellent find ! I think its circa 1960's / 70's based on style and the mark . Stone could be peridot , but that light is giving it more of a yellowish hue than the green I would associate with peridot.

Congrats on the Sterling,,
In the 1880's, American silversmiths changed the purity of Silver products from Coin silver, (90%), to Sterling silver (92.5%), to match European Purity. This applied to dinnerware, pocketwatch cases, serving trays and tea sets, etc.
Most Jewelers at the time switched to the .925 purity standard.
Your ring is probably c 1960s.

Nice looking little ring.

Now we're metal detecting  Congrats on the hunt.
